Arceon is an engineering company, focused on the research, development, and application of ceramic matrix composites. These materials are a combination of ceramics and composites, utilizing the advantages of both. The ceramic matrix provides high temperature performance and ablative resistance, while the reinforcing fibers make the material non-brittle and damage tolerant. Arceon uses carbon fibers in a silicon carbide matrix, which results in attractive material properties: low density, high temperature resistance up to at least 1600 °C, low CTE and high strength. By using different fibers and additives, many of the properties can be tailored to specific applications.
